SUSIE BOYER, LSW I Licensed Social Worker

The desire to help others has always been practiced by Susie. That desire, paired with her natural curiosity and nonjudgmental outlook, is what she believes led her to a career in social work. Through the wealth of knowledge gained from her own personal journey, as well as her years of working at community-based agencies, in case management and home-based work, Susie has found her natural, and professionally developed, self-efficacy is just one of many skills that assists her clients to experience joy in their lives while finding personal healing. 

With over 20+ years’ experience as a Social Worker in community mental health programs, Susie’s professional experience spans from leading support groups, implementing interventions for troubled teens, parent education and individual therapy for children to adults. Susie was able to bring her formal training and competencies to the secondary school-age population to help address students with challenging behaviors that interferes with their academic experiences and family and peer relationships.

As such, through my nationally recognized trauma-care and mindfulness trainings, among others, I implement strategies in a way that ‘feeds your soul’ and allows you to truly experience relationships and events in healthier ways.”

In an effort to assist her client’s ability to discover and celebrate who they are, while exploring areas that cause un-ease, Susie offers client’s a variety of skills to assist them in their ability to monitor and regulate their physical and emotional symptoms. Working within a safe and open environment, Susie assists clients in not only investigating, but also identifying their issues. Susie has worked with a variety of diagnoses but has specific training on the following: ADHD, learning disabilities, crisis management, domestic violence, empowerment, sexual abuse issues, trauma and loss in children and adults, suicide pre- and post-vention, effective parenting, spirituality, healing, self-care and tapping.                                                                   

Her eclectic approach to counseling, which incorporates Mindfulness, Trauma, and Loss therapies, aids in her ability to incorporates many types of interventions and techniques in counseling. More specifically, Susie uses a variety of strength-based, client-centered, and client-empowered interventions, as well as self-care techniques that clients can utilize outside of session to find relief.  Susie has also found that healing and wellness can be found from traditional and non-traditional modalities. As such, she loves to incorporate art, Zen-tangles, drumming, journaling, energy work, mindfulness and relaxation exercises in session.
